Webflow Forum Template

Since launching our community tool, the number 1 request has been to use a template to speed up the development process. So we are super excited to share with you our first forum template.  

Like templates from Circle, Mighty Networks, or Buddyboss, ours offers a vibrant & modern looking online space for hosting your community. But the big difference is that ours leverages Webflow’s best-in-class design flexibility and CMS, so you can customize every aspect of the UI & UX in the Webflow Designer!

For this template, we released a long list of new features, which are now available to add to existing reviews & comments sections, and communities. Including:

Commenting & Reviews

• ‍Reply notifications - Guests & members (who consent) will be notified via email whenever another user replies to their comment.‍
• Upvoting - Webflow Memberships or Memberstack users can now upvote individual comments‍
• Loading animation - Show an element with a lottie while comments are loading to indicate to users that comments are loading‍
• No repeat reviews - Setting to block members or guests (by IP address) from posting multiple reviews on a CMS item

Community

• Post categories - Allow users to select a category (or any other reference field value) for a community post. Use the reference field to display all posts for a certain category on a dedicated page.
• Author tag - When a user comments their own community post, an author tag can appear with their comments
• Collection list member author data - Show profile image and name in the collection list item for each community post
• Finsweet Attributes - Member author data will still show in the collection list when using Finsweet Attributes for filtering, sorting, and pagination­

Other new features

• CMS Item Upvoting - Enable a Product Hunt upvoting system, where registered members can upvote specific CMS items. Import the total upvotes data into your CMS collection.
  
• Public profile pages - Public page showing the content history (reviews, comments, & community posts) of other members­

What's next?

Over the past few months, we have been laser focused on adding new features for this template. It's safe to say we've made some trade-offs with the usability of our tool in order to ship this template in only a month! That is why our focus over the next few months are improving our editor's UX & performance:

• Small community improvements - faster post speed, error handling, more moderation options )
  
• Small usability improvements (eg. mobile friendly content dashboard)
• Spam prevention improvements (eg. IP blocking)
• Creating a knowledge base

And then below are the new functionality we are planning to add next:

• Community post editing
• Inline images for posts
• Outseta integration
