Announcement
April 30, 2025

Our 2025 has been nothing short of incredible! We've seen multiple WordPress sites with thousands of comments, discussions, and reviews move to our platform. Plus, we have now partnered with Memberstack on a new Premium Forum Template.

The first few months of this year has been focused on making major upgrades to our app's ease-of-use and infrastructure. While these might not be the flashiest features, they address important needs and will enable us to build new features faster as we continue developing the ultimate community platform for Webflow.

1) Site-wide Script

As Supersparks has evolved into a full community platform, we recognized the need for functionality across every page of users' sites, especially for upcoming features like on-site notifications.

To simplify installation, we've created a universal script that works across your entire site, eliminating the need to paste different script variations on different pages.

⚠️ If you've already configured our app with page-level scripts, we recommend keeping them. You can safely add the site-wide script alongside existing scripts to access new features like upvoting without any conflicts. ⚠️

2) Attributes

Designers rejoice! All of our components now support attributes instead of mandatory classes, making it much easier to redesign components without class conflicts.

Converting is simple: transform a class like "supersparks-comment-card-123fd" into an attribute: supersparks-comment-card="123fd" as shown below:

⚠️ Your existing classes will continue working perfectly. This update simply gives you more design flexibility. ⚠️

3) CMS Item Upvoting

We've expanded our upvoting functionality beyond discussions into a standalone app that works with any CMS item. This isn't just about likes on forum posts - it's the foundation for several exciting engagement features this now unlocks:

  • Thread Following -  Get notifications when new comments are added to threads you follow
  • Topic Following - Get notifications when new posts are added to topics you follow
Following the nocode topic CMS item in a forum
The notification email sent to followers when a new post is added to the nocode topic

We are aiming to officially launch this app at the end of this month with additional features for upvoting in collection lists, favoriting, and allowing users to see who upvoted.

4) Comments & Reviews Updates

  • Spam detector - Re-launced spam detection setting with a new 3rd party AI detector
  • Reply form hide - Attribute to hide the reply form after the user replies to a comment or review
  • Multiple content sections - It is now possible to add multiple comments and reviews sections on a single page - please note, this requires a site-wide script.

5) Community Posting Updates

  • Delete post - Allow users to delete their own community post

  • My profile  - Allows users to navigate to their own public profile
  • Topic page direct posts - Allow users to add a post to a topic from the topic's page, without needing to select the topic from a dropdown
  • Image upload field - Allow users to upload an image with a community post, which is great for header and preview images
Image upload for the Webflow CMS image field (separate from inline in rich text)

6) New UI

We also made some major improvements to the UI of our web app. Check it out 👇

7) What's next?

Our upvoting app is currently in beta and we are aiming to launch it later this month. Once live, we will start work on the following highly requested features (in order):

  • Rich text comments - Allow users to add links, inline images, formatting, and more to their comments

  • Editing - Users will soon be able to edit their own comments, reviews, and community posts

  • Branding - Custom logos for notification emails

  • On-site notifications - Users will be able to see notifications on the website

  • Member directories - Create a directory of members profiles on a static page or via the CMS

  • Team accounts and permissions - Give certain members of your team admin access to moderate content directly from the website.

  • Improved content loading - Animations to make the dynamic loading of community content smoother.

  • Server-side rendering setting - improved crawlability of comments and reviews

We're excited about these updates and what they mean for your Webflow communities. As always, we're committed to combining powerful community features with the design flexibility you expect.
